A Little Bit about Misty Puckett
I was born and raised in Galivants Ferry, South Carolina, in Horry County. I graduated from Aynor High School in 2000. I attended Horry-Georgetown Technical College, earning an Associates Degree in Legal Studies. During my studies, I interned with Gregory K. Martin, PC Law Firm, specializing in real estate. Upon graduation, I began fulltime as a real estate paralegal. My knowledge continued to grow over the course of 9 years. I also worked a short time frame for McDonald, McKenzie, Rubin, Miller and Lybrand in Columbia, South Carolina as a foreclosure paralegal.
In September 2012, I pursued my dream of becoming a law enforcement officer with the Richland County Sheriffs Department. I began my career as a uniform patrol officer and then I had the opportunity to be a part of the Community Action Team (CAT). This unit works closely with the communities to solve problems, build relationships and fight criminal activity across the county. While serving as a deputy, I learned new ways to identify and intelligently resolve the wide array of challenges that arise in life and work. My passion, work ethic, communication skills, and compassionate approach earned me accolades from community leaders, teammates and leadership. Currently, I serve the people of Horry County as a deputy sheriff K9 handler as I begin a new chapter as a real estate agent.
